Is Mux tape dead??

Everyday I start work around 1pm, to get pumped I have a routine of brewing green tea, preparing my gum and mints, then listening to a dance-y mix on Mux Tape. Sadly, Mux Tape is shut down... for now. Apparently the RIAA got wind of this streaming pirate radio network from PC World Magazine...

This is combined with my daily podcasts which are all taking summer holiday right now.
Are you kidding me? I'm just an aggravated little geek girl.

Question: Art Blog??

It's no secret I went to art school and have a history of half assed paintings and drawings. I know what was going on in the American art world about... 4 years ago... it's still the same right guys??? Whatever, I live in Asia most the year anyways so I can't keep up with the rigors of art business.

My statement: I have been keeping very private sketchbooks for 4 years now, which have only been shown to two people.

My Question: Should I make a new sketchbook blog? It does risk the chances of not being update seriously, but I can use it as a record of my overall creative practice... what do you think?

This blog serves as an actual "captains log, stargate 1106", the new blog will be about my creative process and stupid craft projects I am constantly doing. I see this blog as the log of my travels and life, the new one would be a log of creative process... what do you think? Or should I just make it on my flickr account or something?

Ugh... help a lady out.

Confession: Baltimore Otakon 2008

What a perfect way to welcome myself back to America by attending the 2008 Otakon held right here in Baltimore! This is the largest Otaku event on the east coast of America. Many anime fans from around the US come this event every year. Last year I happened upon it with my friend, but this year I attended with purpose.. and an expensive badge! Unfortunately, I don't have too many photos from the con, because I was having the time of my life. I was crazy-eyed in the dealers room looking for my perfect manga in English. It was honestly a dream.

PS. Even Tuxedo Mask was there, oh how I longed to dance with him on the moon...

Maui: Jesus on TV

There is a plethora of religious programs on Hawaiian local cable channels.
One such show had a very special guest star... Jesus H. Christ.
Dustin was touched by the holy spirit.

Carpe Diem: Snorkeling at Sunrise

The last day in Maui, Uncle Rob asked us if we were up for a sunrise snorkeling trip.
We met at 5:15am to travel to a remote beach at the end of a very long road. We passed private beach houses, local bar-b-que shacks, and the lava flow fields. We came the the end of the road and the dawn was just peaking over the lava flow.

The wind was strong and cool and made us a bit apprehensive to go into the dark water.

We explored the reef for about an hour, swimming into truly deep waters. Uncle Rob found a spear gun, and there were many strange markers on the reef including a strange floaty with a flipflop on top. As we swam to shore the rising sun was blinding reflecting off the surface of the water and our slippery goggles. We followed the sun and got back to shore, not without being smashed into the rocks a few times leaving tiny, clean red lines on my knees.

Trips: Big Beach

It was raining at Big Beach, but the waves were breaking huge! Body surfing and filling every crevice of the body with sand.

Stealing from Friends: Amazing Children

I have known these little girls for about 3 years now from my travels to Hawaii, they are family friends and both accomplished hula dancers. They can speak English, Japanese AND fluent Hawaiian. The things they say truly blow me away. Aina (right) has come up with the most classic of nicknames, including "Princess Boyfriend". She was hypnotized by my crystal necklace and always asked to touch it. Picking up the stone from my neck her eyes wandered as she said, " I feel... something..." sensing energy fields from crystals at a young age! I was sure she was going to impart some wisdom before the day was out, but she stepped on a bee and quickly reverted back to being a 6 year old girl.

The girls were dancing hula the following day, so they built this alter on the stage to help their performance:
Lava Rocks, Star Fruit, Flower Petals, River Water, Sticks and Nuts.

Second offering made by Aina, flower petals and a knotted vine.

The next day their performance was amazing, so the charms worked for sure.

Trips: Twin Falls, Maui (or welcome to the Jungle)

A long, long time ago.. in the 1970's a young hippy came into his trust fund.
He decided to buy a large chunk of the Jungle on Maui island. He opened
the land to the public for everyone to enjoy his eden. Though the name suggests
there are only two falls, there is in fact a hidden falls deep into the jungle.

You have to walk on planks, trudge through thigh deep streams, and then you will arrive to
amazing waterfalls.

You are free to crawl on everything and jump into the waterfalls. We were even given Strawberry Guava straight from the tree from a friendly local couple.

My boyfriend and I made a tree fort from some roots clinging to the inside of the cave.

The water is amazingly cool and helps wipe the wifi neutrons from your energy field for real.
Hiking through the jungle to pristine waters makes for a wonderful adventure, and there
are even fresh smoothies available in the parking lot!

Welcome to Maui

Maui is the farming island of Hawaii, there are huge sugar cane plantations in the valley of the two volcanic mountains. There is an amazing amount of seaweed that washes up every day, the water is so clean in Hawaii that you can eat this seaweed fresh from the ocean.

Good-bye Tokyo 2: Typhoon Escape

My last day in Tokyo was filled with packing, garbage and dust masks.
