Food: Tako-sandwich!

While in Osaka we went to this amazing takoyaki stand. It was in
the heart of the "american fashion land". This is the place all of the
bad kids hangout and buy their Kanye West inspired hoodies, and Engrish t-shirts.
The takoyaki was hot, fast, and cheap, like me (I keed, I keed).

The most amazing thing though was their gastronomical invention called the "takosando"
Essentially, it is two piping hot takoyaki covered in mayo, that bulldog sauce, and nori flakes
sandwiched in a huge spicy sembei.

PLUS, takoyaki batter to hold it all together like glue!
Delicious and only ¥100 (roughly, 95 cents)!

This is a must have if you are in Osaka with a grumbly tummy and only
a few ¥100 coins in your pocket.

Shopping for the foods

East to East again: Baltimore to Tokyo

It's been 3 days since returning to Japan. I'm still in a cloud, the jet lag making me achy and... fuzzy.
I find myself transitioning easily back into my brain. My first major task was to purchase a pair of
nice nylons for an office party I was attending. It was strange walking through my neighborhood
again, it was just the same as I left it except for all of the dead cherry blossom petals ground into
the sidewalk.

It's just time to adjust, calmly and purposefully. Listening to David Sedaris on the train, and watching
Arrested Development on loop. My body is aching for sleep, but so long as I can keep my mind going it will
be fine.

Shoot me an email or some books*

Here is a cute i-chat:

Animations: あらしのよるに - Arashi no Yoru Ni

Arashi no Yori Ni is an animation that came out a two summers ago in Japan.
It is the story of a little lamb and wolf who accidentally become friends one
fateful night in a storm. Of course it is sad because wolves eat lambs, but they
are fighting to make this friendship work. It's cheesy, overly sentimental, and at
times a bit homosexual, but that is what I love about Japanese animations.

You can watch the whole thing with subtitles on youtube, click on through to this
persons channel.

Obession: Amy Lockhart

Last night I saw the hypnotic cute strange animations of Amy Lockhart.
Her animations are wild and free, moving from paperrad-esque to 1970's
freak out animations. However, her work is very unique onto itself. Her cast
of characters including Mr. Baby, Lucky and Licorice Whip are both bizarre and
endearing. The jingles that accompany the characters are sweet and lo-fi with
chipmunks style delivery.

I love this bizarro girl world of rubber animals, muscle-y
women, set to an ice cream truck soundtrack.

Impossible Languages: Icelandic

I have had a dream to go to Iceland for over 3 years now. I want to go swimming in hot springs, eat fish from the ocean, and visit the volcanic land... and also see fairies. I thought it would be good to brush up on some Icelandic phases before traveling there, however all of the written text I have found has new and strange letters I have never seen before. However, I did find videos on the you-tubes demonstrating pronunciation and "emergency phrases". Enjoy the language of the great white north:
